If you didn't do the textures and are showing off the model, put a wireframe in there. Also try a different lighting setup, you have very dark shadows that obscure the model. Show that beast off!
Here's the requested wireframe! :) Between posts I've managed to lower the polycount slightly and the new count can be seen in the top left of this screenshot. Both images are just screenshots of 3Ds Max's viewport.
without an image its hard to advise. 140,000 sounds like 4x what would be required if professionally modeled. show an image of the overall model and one of just a tank tread (with wireframes highlighted)
Updated my reel, would like some feedback if anyone feels like it. :D http://www.ziggyshea.com/ Going to be slowing the plane turnaround a bit, and might fiddle around with the ferrari wireframe settings.
Thanks for the kind words. Here are some wire shots of the station. The geometry for that project is really pretty basic. The texture work was the real challenge. I also did a wireframe of the gun while I was at it.
Here is a pic of the front/back/side with wireframe on shaded showing. You can see the grid in the pics too. Again, have only just started the face, and haven't messed with the knee yet.
Here is the wireframe for the Drone, with normals. I know there are some parts that I could probably optimize and cut. Too lazy to do that at the moment. Plus it is for next gen engines like UT3, so....
Apparently so long as I make sure I'm in wireframe mode first, it works fine. It still seems to me it shouldn't be crashing just because it's trying to display the black AO shader.
Yeah poop and daz pretty much hit it on the head there.... I never seem to be able to find quality wireframes when i need to, anyone have some good stuff they know of anywhere?
turn on wireframes in the veiwport and hit printscreen! By the way, what is that drawing your working off of? looks cool, although a bit stretched wide. Face needs some work. but you'll figure it out.;)
