ahaha, the best bug ever: I'm sneaking into a museum with Lydia. If the guards see me, they want to arrest me. So I try to tell her to stay put, but when I press E to speak to her... "You're not supposed to be in here!" E "You're not supposed to be in here!" Goddamnit Lydia, stop lecturing me and take an order!
Hmmm, had it been meticulously crafted like the original i'd be cool with it, but it looks like an attempt at an easy cash in. But whatever, that's just a take from a 3d artist. The masses might be more impressed seeing that it's obviously 3d which is what museums are for for anyway. I think it's hilarious that they did…
So the Metropolitan Museum just released a bunch of their books online for free: http://www.metmuseum.org/research/metpublications/titles-with-full-text-online?searchtype=F&rpp=12&pg=1 Included among them are numerous books on architecture, weapons, interior design, and so on that'd be very useful to game artists.
Refined the texture some more. I think the previous one was too glossy. Also added a little sign. I imagine it being part of an exhibition at a museum :) It was a great exercise to brush up on my Zbrush skills, do some retopo and focus on texturing. Calling this done:
Worked on the helmet a bit more, I'm trying to be careful not to add too much damage as the reference pictures usually show museum pieces with a few more years of post-war rust. As far as I know the troops would have taken pretty good care of their equipment.
Bird's gone all MarkoD on us! Yikes! Cool variety, there. Page fulla heads, huh? Sounds like a challenge to me. Not as easy as it sounds. Here's a couple heads I did yesterday at the museum. Paul, are we gonna do the Sketch Group thing on Sunday? /jzero
I pretty much live in malmö but... i can't honestly think of anything :/ Maybe go see some of the museums? Thats always fun and if not... just get wasted at any random place with booze in it. EDIT: Youre probably here already though. Im to late! XD
Quickel: yea, you are right about the clock, its a bit too big, have to scale it down. It is higher than those in that reference though, its based on an actual clock i saw in a museum, which was freakishly big : D The paneks are supposed to be about one meter high : ))
I went out to the same museum but outside. I'm experimenting with simplifying the shapes as I draw. I still struggle on constructive form. I struggled a lot with the light on the face. The reflected light and was hard to wrap my head around. Composition mark ups are still coming on the 3d.
Great work Sampson! For the modelers block try some cartoons or movies, go out to some museums if you have any around, read a book, play some games, look up ancient relics. As everyone before me has said keep up the good work.
