Lofting by picking "Get Shape" requires your shape to be created from the correct axis. You can do a corrective rotation in sub level, not on object level. Edit spline -> sub lvl 2, rotate the shape. You'll find more information of the basic tools here: http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/ Edit: Btw Per,…
Hello Everyone! I'm at my first year at the university of hertfordshire, doing 3D Games Art. I have to model a car, and decided to go with a Cadillac. Do you have any tips or advice regarding how can I model THIS bit of the car. I have already started modelling one square with the detail in the center, and I was going to…
Hi, I'd like some help with a part im working on. I'm using 3ds max and turbosmooth, and I can't figure out how to do the topology without getting deformation. This is the best way i could come up with but obviously its not working. and here's the turbos smoothed result: ideally I'd want the highlight to be more or less…
@perna Exactly, it's a lack of confidence in workflow. Part of it is me thinking that I need to switch from maya to 3ds max to do better hardsurface modeling. The other part is feeling that I could have found a better more efficient modeling process besides just "drag vertices with the move tool and make an estimation" and…
I'm quite new to whole 3d CG and now I've got some issues with shape in figure 1 and my test is shown on figure 2. My question is if I have to use more details on it(more sided tube) or is there another option? I want to add more platforms to hold the end of axle like you see on second figure but its hard to edit it with…
Wow, these welded parts on the second screen are pretty cool ! Can you tell us more about the technique ? is this a brush with alpha in ZBrush etc. because it looks really cool and i'll have to do some 3d welding in few days :D Edit : yups sorry, i found the tutorial on bitmap's website ;) Here's the url for guys who need…
This. @Mir76 Rather than rely on third party solutions, I've only recently begun personally too delve deeper into native implementation of Blender's modifier stack for a non destructive approach NITROX3D which seems too me at least to progressively attain an aligned finesse not dissimilar to a more robust 3ds Max…
Could you please share your solution? I'm really curious. I'm learning 3D and yesterday I saw your post and tried to model myself the piece you had problems with and I also found it very tricky. Here is what I come up with: What do you think about this solution? Maybe you found a better one? I would appreciate it if you…
@FrankPolygon said: Yeah the mesh "works," just as a beginner I'm curious about what experts have to say. It has mild issues at glancing angles But I don't think there is a particularly easy solution to that, except maybe at the bottom where the part starts curving upwards? P.S. it's a canopy for an RC helicopter Not…
How do I model the disk part as well as the screens? Since this mesh has an odd number of screens, I had to make a 14 sided cylinder in blender, keep two of the 14 faces, extrude the screens, and duplicate and rotate the faces 7 times. I want to add a bevel to the mesh because importing this mesh to 3D Coat for sculpting…
