Page 20 of my DDO tutorial covers improving performance. You can also try setting your undo levels to 15 or fewer while you work to see if that helps improve PS's responsiveness for you.
About an hour. I made a bunch of mistakes with MeshFusion and had to correct them and I bungled a few other things ... still learning. It's easily doable in 20 minutes I'd wager if you were slick with MeshFusion.
I made that model 10 years ago, The scene is over a million polys and took over 20 hours to render one frame. The glare is bad.. I would never use flare that way these days... Cheers
[edit] Great stuff here man! It's great to see the progression from the beginning of the thread to you getting a job to here. Very inspiring, I wish I was as motivated as you when I was 20! Good stuff.
Today i quickly made a "zweihander" just as an exercise. The entire thing was done within 20 minutes, while not my most detailed model, my fast method can be very useful for time sensitive tasks.
OMG, Smackdown 2 on the PS2. Me and my buddies racked up almost 20 years of history on the co-op story mode. That was the best ever, it's a shame they went single player only on story mode after that.

Nosgoth Veteran Pack is on sale for $7 at Green Man Gaming right now. It includes a beta key, 4,000 Runestones ($20 premium currency), and an in-game badge. It's definitely worth it in my opinion, because the game is great!
Picked up some objects at the local flea market. $18 total for the both of these. Going to model these and see how I like this process ... $20 every month or so for real life reference seems reasonable to me.
