Quakecon is fast approaching. There are some really fantastic talks scheduled. http://news.quakecon.org/post/881677083 I'm mostly looking forward to Richard Garriot and John Carmack talking about rockets and space travel. This seems like one to not be missed. I hope to meet some more polycounters out there again this year… -

Yeah, I dont know what you guys are talking about in terms of the "flawed Max RTT" because, while a bit cumbersome, it works ok for me, and generates decent results. Then again, I barely know what IM talking about here, so...heh. Kinda new to this stuff myself. -

Yea I wish I could share the details of the personality, but hes definitely not the typical "grunt" personality type like the shallow characters you are talking about. The visual styles of the characters you are talking about are also far different than the work here. Think Heavy from TF2 or Mr. Incredible. -

Not the kind of bots he is talking about. He is talking about a player using a second account with say a cleric or druid buffing his main char with statbuffs. Not a problem in war tho because there is no classes with any great amount of buffs and afaik there are no concentration based buffs at all only time limited ones. -

You really want to pre-filter your cubemap mips using an offline utility. It was talked about a fair bit in this years PBS course at SIGGRAPH. Not really 3D related specifically, but I really enjoyed the podcasts of Aaron Canaday: http://gim.acanaday.com/ They do talk about portfolios, layoffs and all kinds of industry related topics so it's always great to listen to. Also for sure Crunchcast, Chris Holden and Jon Jones talk about a lot of awesome stuff there.
