Your textures are looking a bit too cartoony. Try to add more depth and more surface details. All your edges are also very round. I've never done handpainted textures so maybe someone else can give you some good pointers. It might be a good idea to try sculpting a texture in zbrush. Some good tuts here:…
Hi guys, I have some issues while baking the normal maps. The last 2 issues I have not been able to fix myself are these two: 1. As I am using mirrored faces I get this seam... The thing that surprises me and makes no sense to me the whole blade of the sword is also mapped the same way, but on both sides - sharp and round…
@Noors: I think I will give the lights a shot, actually. That setup looks pretty straightforard, as long as I don't have to deal with cast shadows. I admit I've been hesitant since I've never actually done any lighting in Max before and I'm on a deadline. Easy to get sucked into the lighting rabbit hole, so I'll probably…
Keep in mind what Chris said. The mirrors-edge ultra clean look is not the look of the entire game. This quote from the forums is a good way of thinking about it. "I think, since making a game with 90's levels of polygons isn't going to fly in 2014, the visual clarity has to come from having a hierarchy of details. If…
EDIT: Updated first post with second video I haven't paid attention to EA Sports games recently but apparently a publicly announced feature of EA's Ignite Engine. Just saw a 2 yr old blurb mentioning it: "Thanks to the power of the Ignite engine, EA Sports UFC will feature an all-new full-body deformation system that…
noniol: Go for it man! Even if I compare the first one to what I'm doing now I feel like I've come on a long way :D Can't wait to see where I am by #100 :D #014 [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ci0WmaFxJU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ci0WmaFxJU[/ame]
Moved out here in 2014 to start my career in the game industry. Fortunately I've been more or less continuously employed in that entire time. Survived one studio closure at my first gig, and a round of layoffs at my current place. While I really love what I do, it often feels like its impossible to keep up with the cost of…
Febuary 2013 I quit my job as a legal clerk, I started using Photoshop and Maya October 2013 and zBrush May 2014 (with classes) - so yes, it my first zBrush sculpt - though I spent somewhere about 100h split between zBrush, Maya and a little bit of topogun on this ;) It was an overall learning experience - both zBrush…
@FredPez Yes I think the time period is Victorian England, but in the scenes in wonderland she wore different kinds of dresses that I think are from different places. I'm going to stick to the prom dress she wore to the dance and modify it. The features of her face are very interesting to paint, she has these childlike…
The critique was mostly positive, he got more nit-picky then usual which is a good sign ^_^ He did not mention much about the coloring, but I will be sure to try to sharpen it up and get rid of the softness. And as for the shape loss, I completely agree. I was in Orthographic mode for most of the modeling, that killed a…
