Usually my ships have around 20 different submaterials - it could easily be reduced, but since we make skins for the ships inside Unreal by creating a material override list, it keeps them nice and modular :)
I think the SP art team is getting seriously OP. But how much better would these shots be if you guys would stop making fart noises with your mouth in the office? At least 20% better.
if you use zbrush you can decimate your high poly, that is what i always do when i want to import hi poly models to maya and you dont loose details at 20%
