I'd rather be praised by a close group of talented friends. When you look closer into a game conference crowd, you'll see it's made up of people that you would likely stay away from in real life.
hey- i like everything so far. my first advice on the bricks texture is the that red color you chose is a little extreme.. I would go with grays and browns for bricks but thats just my opinion
So you're going to purposely sacrifice what could be your best choice just to "go against the crowd"? Honestly that's one of the stupidest things I've heard in quite some time. Oh well, it's your choice.
So you can't modify the base, but you can pose it after textures are done. Which means you'd have to sculpt/paint the creases for frowns and such while the character is in a neutral position and then pose it and hope the shapes work?
the brown dirt on the curb and under the trash can looks odd. I think it would look better round the base of the wall and post, I guess because dirt gathers there because that's where people aren't walking.
My first reaction when looking at your paintover was: "Combine soldier bear!? WIN!" but I see that it's more steampunkish. Generally I'm used to seeing browns and rust colors associated with steampunk... this could be a refreshing change.
I would say no it is not frowned upon to use tiling textures, in fact I'd say it's pretty common still. and yes, you'll need to straighten out the uvs 'by hand' if you want them to follow around the curve
hawken, have you been to Brighton Beach, I know Daz has. Apparently they play basketball in Braitain I had no idea until I saw the reference shots and there was 300 people crowded around that court.
Ben Apuna: I dunno, I kinda like the grey and browns but I will add some color to the scene as well as variations on the fruits. For that second building I kept the brick, I just changed up the textures.
awesome verm, i'm still loving mine, besides a few minor complaints, like try getting 4 people in or out of it if you are forced to park in a crowded lot, thats entertainment, but besides that, ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM
