This thread succeeds on many levels. With extreme remarks of potential. I've been planning to buy one of either dvds to learn blender myself. I cant believe that even after many years have passed and blender is still new to me. :(
@justo Not sure if you've tried Max 2020's updated chamfer mod, but mitering is a term that's used, and Radial mitering is the same as Blender's Arc mitering. Blender's docs will only now begin to update now that 2.80 is officially out of beta.
For any Blender users who also use Max, I made a version of Blenders F2 Addon for Max (performs "Quad From Edge" or "Quad From Vert" depending on what's selected): http://polycount.com/discussion/comment/2427150/#Comment_2427150
Bake the texture from the lowpoly model to itself (i.e. with selected to active unchecked) with zero edge padding. Or, increase the edge padding in the bake if you just want to have Blender do the edge padding. I recommend using Blender Internal for this.
Is there a blender tutorial mega thread? If not can we create one where members post links to blender tutorials. We can sort them by things such as Character modelling, environment modelling, texturing, rigging etc. Also free vs paid.
Heya Kat, I hear you. Yup I am aware of the whole history behind Blender, the non-standard approach and so on. I think my big wish is that someday, someone grabs the open source code and massages it into something simple and standard, completely remote from the main development of the 'real' Blender itself. I am thinking…
Thanks for that link Dim, havent tried bmesh yet but I cant wait to finally have knife and bevel in Blender haha. I really like how much faster Blender is to use. With the context sensitive menu I've got all the tools i need right at the tip of my mouse without having to dig through menus all the time :D super time saver.…
Hi, I'm looking at Blender for a Hair solution. Now that 2.8 is out ,it looks a bit easier to get into. So after scouring the internet I found a way of getting hair out of Blender. ( to put into Marmoset) In Blender 2.79 there is a button named Convert which converts it to a mesh. This button is missing in 2.8...Im just…
Yup, you do. And depending on how many pieces your model has, this can become quite the time-consuming endeavor. That is precisely what I was looking to avoid by switching to Blender. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - it seems that Blender still has some issues to deal with to be at the same level as KS is with Zbrush…
Hey pior, if you're looking to get into Blender's rigging and animation I highly recommend checking out the following two tutorial series. They do a great job of covering the fundamentals in a clear and systematic way and then they build on top of that. I got both of them and it really helped me to improve my skills.…
