Hey guys, just wondered if you could offer me any feedback to why my bakes are coming out in this way. Along the edges there seems to be dark lines, where polys meet. Is there a simple explanation to this? Or have I done something totally wrong. :S I've attached a couple of screen grabs to show you guys the issues. Nice…
Hello guys! There is a problem, sorry if somebody already talked about it. Please, see a image - whet bake, details near edge - i think - cuz ray is not perpendicular. There is a way - make details like this thru photoshop. Another method - tweak cage points - fix this problem but create new - on edge. But maybe some one…
Hi, I need to bake shadows into the diffuse texture and I seem to understand how the process is done. What I don't get is what to do when you have one texture for the whole asset and there's many uv islands in one space, overlapping each other. How do I proceed then? Because all the tutorials I found were insisting on…
I'm optimizing a number of hard-surface vehicle parts from Solidworks by baking high-poly details to the low-poly mesh. When creating assets for games, I almost never use 90 degree angles on high-poly models. However, this particular asset I'm creating has a combination of beveled and sharp edges. I have a feeling that the…
Hi there, I'm trying to bake a simple normal map from high-poly. I'm getting some wierd issue I can't resolve around the edges, anyone knows why? The edges aren't smooth.

What do I need ? Do I…
From Poop's in-progress normal mapping tutorial: (http://www.poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/normal_workflow.htm) "If you are using 3DSMax as your baker (baking normal maps is only available in max 7 and up) you may not have any UV chunks overlapping. Grab the offending chunks (in the above example, both legs and feet grabbed…

Well I didn't get as much time as I wanted on this but I worked as hard as I could And I'm pretty proud of the results. I ended up at 8k tris witch I thought was pretty good. But First, my thoughts on Handplane as a baker. I didn't have any problem with what it produced. I had some pretty rough UV's so I was expecting a…
Open Barrels, Trash Cans, Dumpters. For these things, things that have a deep -inside-, is it commonplace to separate the innards and move then away from the main mass when doing your baking? Or are there other workaround I haven't considered?
