First time making a realistic weapon. Trying to recreate a piece of concept. Learned a lot about the import/export workflow between Zbrush and blender, uv and baking. This process is real tricky, including scaling issues, sharp edges issues blablabla.
@lolpoly Yeah, differing sizes are definitely something I'd noticed while designing the helmet. Admittedly, I did want to fall pretty close to the concept, but I also wanted it to lend more towards realism than stylization and was thus using a head and neck under the head armor as a guide. Realistically, they'd probably…
Whats the model for? You can just model it all realistically if you need that sort of definition. Otherwise just put the leaf over the end of the stem if its not going to be viewed from 2cm away.
Day 2 Ok now i need to do something i've never done, sculpting. I'm more of a hard surface guy (because i'm an hard man). And so i start with the platypus plushy. This is the REF. And this is the result. I'll spare you the first attemps, they were so ugly that, for a moment, i though i had lost my record as ugliest thing…

So, i managed to get a descent result with Zbrush fiber mesh, wich is the pic below. (This is just bent normal, which seems to get better result than a simple normal map, plugged in detail normal and the albedo from vertex color of the fibermesh - flat rough & spec values). Groom is far from optimal but this was just a…

- "Going for the old style of crash" I think if you want to go with the same style crash bandicoot went in and want to push it further then you should definitely go with the PBR Stylized textures direction... It doesn't need to be super realistic, it just needs to look good no? something looking realistic doesn't define…
