While I like the model and bake in overall, I kind of miss that gray tone in the difuse texture the way I remember those AT ST's. Everything in those screenshots looks brown, its like someone used a sepia filter.
Clear Sky is the newest, but I think the original (especially with the 2009 Complete mod which fixes bugs and updates the textures) is a little bit better. Clear Sky's Zone was a little too crowded and not as unnerving, and the ending was very linear and rushed.
I think the confusion - ice vs. mud - might be caused by the quality & color of the reflection. Try reducing the reflection, and give it a lighter brown base. Adding some low magnitude ripples might help with the impression of water instead of ice.
So here's where I am today!! Not sure how to post these images though, seem to get quite crowded in here... Correct me on how to do these sketchbooks if I'm doing anything wrong! Critique very much appreciated. :)
Agreed with the Intuous crowd. I have a Bamboo and hate it. It is non-responsive and you can't even calibrate the work area like a Cintiq. I've never used an Intuous before, but I suggest buying one of those over a Bamboo.
25 for art discussion alone, Minh. And we had a professor from CentreNAD and a producer from Funcom. In the end, at the bar, it was pretty crowded too. You should totally come to some of IGDA events, It's always nice to say Hi:)
I'd personally change the red colored wood into natural dark brown. For some reason, the current color scheme gives me more of a "Chinese" feeling. I always picture Japanese shrines/castles as nature-oriented, if that makes sense.
your demons actually make me think of the traditional descriptions of angels; having multiple faces of different animals/monsters, multiple eyes "like flaming fires", and a voice like the roar of a crowd, etc. just generally pretty terrifying.
Make him a dirty pig, and make the hoves look like hoves. Rite now hes just fading to brown, he needs the little details on the hoves. If you want you can refrence off my demons hoves.
I personally think the scene is too crowded. Give something for the eye to look at - I'm confused at what I'm suppose to be focused on. There is nothing especially interesting in the whole render, but there are subtly interesting things all over the image. That's not a good thing!
