Half-timbered house modeling
Hi polycounters. i am new at 3d modeling and wanted to try it out so i started modeling my own version of a half-timbered house (inspired by fable 2). i wanted to post my work here so you can see the progress but also to get some criticism from you guys on what i could do better or different.:) -

I've been looking through a couple of the character mesh from the 3D Art Giveaway thread, and I was wondering, Polycount: Is it acceptable to have floating geomtries between what visually looks sewn together? For example, can I have the head geometry be floating even though the head geometry intersects with the clothing… -

Well, I'm pretty excited how you turn out ProBoolean to Polymesh (im not 3ds max user), this low poly looks really acceptable, and tweaks can be done really easily. Great tut! :) @edit You should try use Dynamesh Master for that kind of work. You can set amount of polycount by hand. Really useful addon. -
Re: Speed Animating Thread
These are great for 20 minute animations, you don't seem rusty at all! They loop smoothly and especially the more polished versions have weight and personality. I myself used to have plenty of 3D animation courses in university from which I graduated this year - I appreciate seeing an animator sharing works like this here… -

well money wise it depends. there is no across the board amount you are guaranteed once you are in the industry. but there is a lot on the wiki about the getting started in 3d and eventually getting into the industry.
