yup, our upstairs neighbours are a pair of noisy twats. they seem to be able to literally jump up and down kn the floor for hours upon end. They also come down to smoke outside and talk really loudly outside our door. really pisses me off. some sod dumped some fly tipping outside our flat the other day and the neighbours…
What are you using for your primary reference? My first impression is the lighting lacks "focus" so it is evenly lit all over. Plus the colors are too saturated. Unfortunately most stock "photos" are AI generated these days, but you should be able to find some real photography if you look around a bit.

WIP , I did a playblast for the animation, recently converted to curve from a step blocking stage.
I am open to take note of any feedback that can help me reach a higher level and turn it…
With higher res vertex paint and untied hair, the face does seem a little closer to reference vibes. She'd need some serious eyelashes to pull it off. I was making cream for a cake today, and it feels like a very similar process: "Oh no, it's still too liquid. Did I mess up the ingredients? Maybe it needs more time? But…
That makes a lot of sense, I didn't think about that. I'll do some research and edit the cracks later for sure. I did add the crack on the eyeball on purpose, but might change the placement of it a bit later depending on how it looks when I add the other elements in the scene.
* Environment Art/Prop Art. I would perosnally argue focus on characters though. * In-Engine Tech Art: Material Node Graph, Scripting, Lighting. If anything, try to do final renders in a proper game engine like Unreal or Unity. * Maya is fine. I was asked to learn Modo at work, and all it took was a month of relearning…
Another way to better understand what the pros are doing is to do exactly what they are doing. Find a video on youtube or something like FDZ and the LoL spotlight and follow along. Every 30 seconds or so (assuming its sped up) pause the video and get a screenshot of it. Then take that into photoshop and replicate…
#2 update! Hey guys, so I did some bricks in substance designer. The texture is still at a blocking stage, so expect changes. I will start blocking all the materials in the next days and go on tweaking them as I consider it necesary. I have at least 5 other tileable materials to create (without counting each variation for…
Your right, I did wing the scale I will revisit it while I still can. that didnt come to mind as I was paying more attention to following the concept but sense the way the painting is layed out it can leave room for more creative freedom onh my part. I agree with the lumpiness, maybe I will try and break up some of the…
I actually learned some new things and applied them to my work because I played PS1 games. Like, I was previously unaware Naughty Dog did used baked lighting in their PS1 games. My first examples in this thread (the Playstation or the Driver clone) where just textures with colored tints applied to them. I personally don't…
