You know.. I wonder if its the export method. What about exporting as dxf versus obj? Edit.. nm.. Didnt realize you can only import that. Edit edit.. hmm what about importing it as a dxf though? Im just trying to figure out what differences between import and export that max is doing which might explain whats happening.
I hacked it by displaying only hard edges in the custom poly display menu, then just took a screengrab of my UV window. Not as good as a proper UV export though. @Ben : Sometimes it would be nice to just have the UV export just show hard edges. If you could export them as paths (ignoring the soft edges), it could be a real…
[ QUOTE ] Improved OBJ and Autodesk FBX file formats import and export vastly enhance interoperability [/ QUOTE ] I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing about that. Taken how long to get a decent working OBJ importer/exporter? Yes I know you can download a plugin that handles importing/exporting. That shouldn't be needed…
Hello everyone, I am having a issue with my Marvelous Designer exporting into Maya. When I export mesh into Maya the UVs don't match the layout from MD, they seem to import stacked on top of each other and I need them to match my 2d arrangement from Marvelous so I can transfer attributes. I have attached the pictures and…
Hey PC, I was just about to finish a simple jacket retop when my trial expired meaning that I cannot export my mesh as the export feature is now disabled. I was just wondering if one of you could help a fellow polycounter out by exporting the retop mesh for me please? Just drop me a private message and I will send you the…
By the way, about the triangulation thing: recently i realised that a triangulation on export yield different results depending on the targeted file type. In my case, i exported an fbx, textured it and all, but applied the material on an obj. I had some shading errors. I tried everything and was going nuts. But then i…
This week i realized that the exporter script i wrote, doesnt export the fbx properly. Does anyone have any experience on that? Ive spent most of my day trying to figure it out. At the end there is a line to tell it to export. And i did this. lx("!!scene.saveAs {$originalSceneName} $fbxType true"); Where $fbxType is a…
Cheers Kodde, Well the problem appears to be with Max's OBJ export. I've spent about half an hour messing with Max export settings and couldn't get any OBJ's to load into the viewer. I tried a simple cube, up to 500 triangle characters and nothing would even open. Exported with pretty much default settings from Maya and it…
Fantastic courier!! As for the size that probably depends on what software your using. I know in max there is "Rescale World Units" in utilities panel that could resize whole scene. On the other hand you could play with units of your scale that should export model with altered size I think. Also I think in some FBX…
Personally I just export as much as I can at once into UDK and just use multi materials. So for my sewer level I made, I just exported the whole thing as one .obj file. For my plaza scene I broke it down into sections though because there a limite of how many tris you can export into UDK. Something like 45k tris.
