Your materials and textures are really really great! This scene has an incredible amount of potential. So the lighting is washing the scene out alot. Everything in the scene seems to have an even amount of light from the ceiling to the floor. It's ok to have some dark spots in your scene. I know you fight the urge to light…
Looks really cool, I'd love to explore a town like this! My main critique is the lighting. The lanterns are extremely bright. Maybe also have a house with a lantern that's not on, to add some variation? It seems like a ton of light is coming from the moon to the point where it's a bit too bright (the moon also looks way…
To really capture a foundry you need to portray the - the dull red volumetric light from the raw heat spilling into the visible spectrum. Right now there might just be a well-lit hangar or something below those openings; there's no sense of the inferno of any kind of molten metal. I was working on a giant blacksmith forge…
Wow, thanks for the kind words guys/girls! I was expecting this to get ripped to shreds but it seems that Polycounters are kinder people than the voices in my head! Anyway enough about the voices... My only concern at the moment is that the purpose of the scene seems a little diffused, its hard to tell whether it is…
@Obscura: Thank you!:) Yeah I noticed the weird shadow at the front of the train, sometimes when I build it's not there. I think I'm having some weird issues building the lights because of hardware constrictions. It takes so long and I'm not even building production lighting yet :( (edit: you know what I bet that weird…
Thanks for the feedback guys. It's much appreciated! coots7: I can definitely fix the barrel. I guess I wasn't sure when it's okay to use tris (without the mid line, the the top ends in tris) or when you should work around extra geo. My main concern about the temple is that the scene will become too dark to see. I've…
I think they have a dull shine to them kind of like rubber or plastic. Normally these types of containers have a shinier finish. Are you planning on doing a spec map? If so you'll want to take out or reduce the highlights you painted in. If not, then you probably want to work on a bit of a shinier spec shine to some…
Try to match you lighting with the concept--right now its way too dark and dingy. Also your textures are really busy, you might want to consider vertex painting on grunge and damage instead of adding it to the texture itself. Right now the biggest problem is the lighting--fix it and your scene will look so much better.
Just wanted to add my own experience with this issue: I'm still in the process of finding out best practices in regard to this issue and will keep this post updated when I find out new things. Btw, the official term for this problem is "Shadow Terminator Atrifact". --- Adding sub-division level in Marmoset This solution is…
"34 right-handed men aged between 19 and 49 to tap a drumstick at a variety of different intervals." That's some rigorous testing How do you tell if the stage is level? The drummer is drooling from both sides of his mouth. How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb? Five: One to screw the bulb in, and four…
