Took a break from some models I'm working on and finished up my brick material for the building! Let me know what you all think I have parameters in to control the amount of mortar, wear and paint.
Looking at how World of Tanks did it, they simply have looped geo unwrapped to a single track area of texture, then animate the textures depending on speed and direction of movement... the geo itself is similar to Brick Top's post right above.
Agree with @Anthny, for a level with such high visual fidelity, that harsh transition b/w snow and brick is jarring. That being said, I think the shader you've got on your stone is gorgeous, and the whole environment is very well done.
Asset list: Walls with brick texture, pillars to support roof, wooden planks, a lamp, a sewer exit, a barrel for wine, a floor with stone texture a little stair to door, a door, 2 wine bottles to spread through the cellar.
Ah right. Correction, use Fess Parker playing Davy Crocket. A handsome fellow with an aquiline nose. The mythical character rather than the slightly less impressive looking (though no doubt tough as a brick shithouse) real version.
Doesn't make sense, because it'd have to deform exactly to where the path connects (which I'm almost positive is floating geometry, so it can be any size or position or even offset along the UV), plus the bricks.
Those bricks are a little to uniform in my opinion. Also I feel as if the tower looks too new, i was getting a more worn down feel from the concept. Under that blue sign you have weird shadowing.
OK, went a different direction with the building with critiques in mind. Obviously the windows and window frames, and door aren't textured yet. Had a really hard time getting the bricks to match up. Also, Re-worked the tree that will be in the scene.
New texture that I was working on since this morning. I doubt this one will be used though, too clean for one. That and the fact my concept artist told me there are no bricks in the environment tehehe.... so this is now a practice throwaway piece.
If the game keeps this way till the end I might build myself a little dog house with all the bricks I shit. And yeah I haven't played GoW 3 so you can imagine my excitement=)
