i have a lot going on, so i cannot update this thread too often, but here is my progress so far: 412 tri, 256x256 diff progress vid, NOT TUTORIAL, just showing how i did it (4x speed)

Really nice progress on the face! From now it is a real eye catcher! In my opinion you could add a few more fine pore details and add some more details on the lips. Cant wait to see your texturing progress :)
More progress. I'm not really trying to stay close to the concept so much as I am just dicking around...but meh. Oh, and progress on this: mostly just redid the normal, doing it correctly this time. Still not finished by any means though.
Do you mind progress shots, or would you prefer everything lumped together once we're finished? If progress then, here have a monkey :) He's not welded yet because I'm still sorting out the UVs. He's at 492 tris right now.

Hey man, thanks for all of the input! I've been tinkering around with what you said and its definitely coming along. Not ready to post the final image, but thought I'd at least share some of my progress on the environment props. Textures are still in progress. :)
I've come to appreciate it a bit more as time progresses and have found some tutorials since that show how it can be integrated into a VFX workflow.
