One tip I can give you to save time. Block out the big shapes, Block them out without using Subd. Just to make sure that all the pieces you need are there. So, you start with only 2 parts that are blocked out, 1. Headband is one piece and earcups with drivers are one piece. (So two pieces) 2. Then you iterate further on…
had a quick go at this this morning. weird shape to do, think i got there though. as the other side is not shown, i dont think it is entirely necessary to go all the way around with 1 loop. i used 5, and used soft selection to get a gradual kinda curved look going down, as if it was 1 loop going around, when really its 5…
Thanks @Joao Sapiro, Yeah I understand and actually that was part of the reason for snipping, it seemed like I was off to a very bad start and I didnt want any new potential commenters to write me off straight away, I guess it didnt achieve the desired affect. I do appreciate the time everyone takes to post here and you…
There's an easier way to do this. 1. Start low poly eg: 12 sides for main cylinder, 6 sides for small. 2. Do all your modelling on both parts, check smoothing with meshsmooth. 3. Rotate, place all your small cylinders next to the large one. 4. Delete all small cylinders except one. 5. Select the large cylinder and clone…
Hello everybody! I’m new to maya for the most part, only played around off and took a class for a semester. im attempting to make a weapon via Maya and import it into a game for the most part I’ve developed it having the handle as one object and the blades portion another object. I’m trying to add holes into the blade by…
Sorry for the late reply. You basically have two situations when you are in the circumstance baking this much silhouette deviation/detail onto something so simple. If you bake with your lowpoly currently as is, you'll retain the volume, but have tons of ray misses, which will appear black/artifacty - may look passable at a…
Hey Perna, thanks for taking the time to do the step by step. I sort of get whats going on in the later half of the steps, but I'm having trouble grasping whats going on in the first 5-6 images. From what I can see you started off from the front profile. I can't tell if you used polygons or nurbs, because the top part…
Thanks for the replies guys. The image I posted previously was just one of the routes I tried to take to make the shape have good topology for the LP. Here is my HP, and a low poly outlining what I can't really wrap my head around . What I am really unsure of is, if I (from top edge to lowest) chamfer this one, I have…
So I've been trying to model this piece in my spare time for a couple of days now and still am having trouble coming out on top. This piece is a ring around a sci-fi grenade I came up with. The problem is cutting the hole in the cylinder shape, reinforcing the sides of the hole to keep a more geometric shape(I don't want a…
