sorry for quoting you again, but i was being stupid with my first response. based on your statement with the updates working correctly i assume you already tried the $.Length/2+height? as that gives me gaps as well when i reduce the radius of the sphere too much after adding some height. i sometimes wish my brain wasn't so…
You can do this a few ways. 1) Object Painter Scripts like Advance Painter or Soulburns Object Painter Script. (I personally like Niels script a lot better, more stable, more features, more accurate placement) 2) Attachment constraint. 3) Select an edge, click "create shape" this will give you a spline. You can then path…
Anyone any idea on how to add these 2 raised sections on a washing machine without deforming the circular drum? Normally I'd use the double turbo smooth method but I'm trying to do things differently this time around, and it's got me stumped. I should maybe also mention that the model's mirrored at the minute which I'll…
@Thanez Nice! Its pretty much the same way as the 'smoothed' version in my screenshot. The smoothed version has additional edge loops to maintain the bevel of the edges, the same zigzag and what not. Also you can pretty much do the same thing with a bevel of 2 segments, like in my example. I just moved around a few…
It just came to my mind while recommending this thread on another forum and following another meme: (Maybe this already came up somewhere else??) Some martial polygon art masters chat: Master 1: I can do only 20k polygons.. how much can you do? Master 2: Hmm. i can properly do 24k or maybe even up to 26k polygons.. and…
Hi! I think that on making the pictures I answered myself but anyway let me post them here and confirm my idea... Image 1 is a typical case in wich you need more geometry, otherwise the tension between faces and the proximity generated when subdiving the mesh will cause lumps or straight edges... Image 2 has a decent…
Good job getting the shape right, just my two cents about a couple things you could try to push it even further: 1) Pay more attention to the size and shape of your bevels once smoothed, consistency is very important in order to make an object look clean. In your case, the sides and the bottom of the shape [the one you…
Perna's approach is great (as usual), and really, just learn to observe as he's stated. Another thing to note about this is a domed analogue to a common 2 dimensional mosaic. Best shown (with a bit of distortion) in this image Understanding how these sorts of tilings are created may help.4…
Hi all I have a chamfered edge and 2 intersecting grid lines, which forms a triangle shape. If I now want to add an actual triangle polygon there. Besides extruding the edge to the grid node, and cut out the extra part. What other faster option do I have? Can I add edges along the grid line? (Edit: I am using Maya 2017)
1. Well, that's not very nice of the mesh then, is it. Will try to do that. 2. Okaydokay. 3. Fairly close, I fear. Which is why I can't allow it to have such extreme flaws. I might have to accept that I need a different shape for it *sigh* I might give zBrush a spin for this. Thanks for all the help! :) Will keep an eye on…
