Yeah 2nd UV channel it's common, If that's the best practice then I'm good with that. I set up the materials a certain way though. My main problem with the cut tool is that sometimes it just refuses to cut where I want it to do it, the cut ends up in a completely different place on the edge, its very weird. Kinda gotten used to it, so when it happens, I just use connect between edges and then move the vertexs when I run into this issue. It's annoying… -

:) Nice Edit: is there an action to escape from sub-object mode? I know you can do it by selecting the same subobject that you are already in, ie. pressing vertex hotkey when you are in vertex sub-object, but is there a way to create a single hotkey to escape from any sub-object mode you're in? Select Object escapes… -

I stay in vertex mode 90% of times and kind of like it. If you select 2 vertices you've got edge selected, and if you add two more it's face selection and you can perform both vertex & face operations on selection :) Using wacom tablet and it's lot easier to make 2-3 additional taps then pressing ctrl+tab every 5 seconds… -

Yes Eric, that's the way I think it should work. When I mean "…a single UV vertex sharing two or more geometry vertices…" the geometry vertices do not necessarily need to be shared. Hmm, that's strange, it's a fresh installation, because I got a new harddisk. I just seem to remember when I usually selected vertexs, it would place the gizmo in the middle of min/max, allowing you to snap everything with the center. So that means the more vertex you have in one direction, it will always have the gizmo… -

afaik splitting uvs creates rendervertices as well as does splitting normals (via smoothing groups, hard edges etc), and how could it not? its an extra set of data per vertex thats been split, in case of your box it will create 3times more information than with welded uvs, so you're not only creating more data with the… -
