It sounds like he has an animated procedural texture that he needs to loop without reversing the animation, and it needs to tile. Eric Chadwick had a good way of getting procedural textures tile. http://www.ericchadwick.com/examples/tiling_an_animated_texture.html He also has a way to make them loop without reversing the…
I'm not sure if Eric Chadwick has it on his site or not but he's posted this fix a few times. Apply a UVW Xform modifier and in V Tile put 2.0 to scale it vertically double what it was. The other method involves using the freeform scale tool (next to the scale tool) to just dragging it fit after you've set the size…
Those were all very good points valuemeal and thank you, I need all the good luck I can get heh. I haven't been drawing in quite some time but I am excited to get back into it even if it's messy. And I have started looking over your Wiki Eric, that's where I started :)
There's no FBX support in the current version. I don't know if there's any intention to support anything beyond OBJ in future releases. Eric or another Quixel representative would have to chime in there. :poly002: In regards to 3DO, I don't see why not. It's a good renderer. I've used it to create renders for some things…
No no.. it wasn't just a slight lowering of res let's say from 4K to 2K. It was horrible like from 4K to 256x256px which is rather abnormal I think. But it works ok now for some reason.. I even don't know what I did to make it work again! May be clearing CC's prefs helped.. Thanks anyway Eric!
eric i haven't tried it, but i think someone posted a script in this thread that does the same. also i am not sure but i think polytools (graphite tools) has a similar feature? i am still not sure if this is what he was asking though, and i don't remember ever having the need to actually select something this way.
Eric, no worries, these aren't huge bugs; shift+click in 3do still seems to work fine. I'll try that now, but since I've tried it with new projects using two different sets of inputs (2 dif. projects) it seems likely it's software. Yeah just tried it with the AK sample project, all the stuff in the video also occurs. CS6.
What you end up going with depends entirely on platform, engine and time-constraints. Not knowing any of those, here's my polar opposite wild-guess-opinion to Eric's: Don't go modular. You can either sculpt or use sub-d modeling, polycrunch (reduce it in polycount) to the desired polycount, unwrap it and blend a few tiling…
@Eric Chadwick i'm assuming texture reuse, which in that case i will be! I'll be baking down once i'm happy with all my high poly assets. I'm going to have a play with substance designer for my texturing stage. Having seen several projects implement substance on polycount, i feel it'll be a good time to implement it for…
Peter/Eric thanks for your replies. I took a look this morning and the PNG was indeed on a transparent background. I guess thats just the way Modo spits it out. I went into Photoshop and made the background black and now it loads ok. I'll mess around on the Modo side and see if there is a better way, or maybe just not use…
