Sorry if this was mentioned already, but I believe to use ptex you need to have fully quad models which is not that popular in games right now. It's a big constraint and lends itself to subdivision modeling much better which is more expensive memory wise than just using triangulated meshes with lod's. We did a test a… -

You could do some kind of render-to-texture thing too, like the screen with Dr. Breen's face on it at the beginning of Half-Life 2. If you toggle noclip on you can actually fly to the room where he's speaking from on that map. That way you could have as many frames as you want with rather lower constraints on texture… -

oh of course, sorry I didn't mean never register a domain, I meant that registering one isn't a necessity out the gate if you're still a student and applying for internships. And as far as updating a portfolio goes, personally I'd rather spend some time early on finding or creating a robust system that makes it super easy… -

sigh, another let down. looks like i will stick to 2011 after all. i just downloaded mudbox2014 demo... so far i am finding the retopo pretty much useless. the topology is very buggy, not symmetrical and guide curves dont paint on symmetry when part of that symmetry is backfacing. combine this with previous years old bugs… -
