With tiling UVs, when your texture is mapped 1:1 across the model, the texture is still tiling beyond the edges. When the textures are filtered you'll see a little bit of the opposite side being blended into the pixels that are right on the UV border. Um... Normally you'll have the uv's fill 0-1 space on each axis even if the texture is rectangular. The uv's look distorted in your DCCA but the texture applies just fine as its indexed from 0-1 on each axis anyway. One axis just ends up with a higher texel density. So yeah you'll have some waste on the light map for that… -

My money is going on your UV's exceeding the 0:1 UV space, or touching it's border. That usually tells MME to use a different texture, but the result more often than not results in faces stretching across the map like this.
