been updating mi windows kind of tricky \s they had to fit in to a particular real world area with slightly inaccurate google maps data actually harder then athey look to get the shapes right the grid like parts should proabably be lead, have to some more research damn it s hard typing without my reading glasses :) -

Well you sir are correct the rule of thirds is definitely about the composition of a scene/piece, its usually used to discourage the artist from placing the focus of interest in the center of the piece using grid lines. I was more or less ripping it off for the lack of a phrase of dividing ambition into thirds. :p -

Yep. Just think of everything in centimeters. The standard grid also works in centimeters (1,5,10,50,100...). For sizes of real-life objects, just google them or depending on the item eyeball it. For building houses it depends on the building so just check some architecture sites or something and you'll find lots of info. -

Thanks, but while upping the lightmap resolution fixes the problem at first glance temporarily, after building lighting I still have the same issues. I'm pretty sure I need to fix the layout of my lightmaps themselves, snapping the edges of the shells to the grid and ensuring there are enough pixels in between. -

The city as a playground looks fun gameplay wise. The NPCs, cars and having everything locked on a grid is a bit odd. I feel like it could fit the Mario world with some really minor tweaks, but at the current state almost gives an "this doesn't feel right" (almost uncanny valley) vibe. -

Just for those that don't know as I didn't at one time, is that to avoid problems with the pivot and dont want to hassle around with the pivot is when exporting align the object to [0.0] [0.0] [0.0] center grid in your application. Then ofcourse when your comfortable mess around with it like these guys are doing. -

Make sure "Use Axis Center As Start Snap Point" is checked on in the Grid and Snap Settings dialog. For some reason they set the default to off. If I didn't know any better I'd think it was a plot to make people abandon 3dsmax. Since it makes snaps largely useless with it off. -

there is no "point" behind the character. the vertices indeed go down to a certain point which is the 0x 0y 0z position in the maya grid. i`m pretty sure all verts are merged but where do i delete non-skin history? because i guess i didnt do that. -
