there is a lot of ways 3D scanning is useful for Artists and designers of all sorts. i think the uses can be summed up in a few broad catagorys: 1:1 Asset Replication - as others pointed out a lot of studios are utilizing 3d scans to get real world assets into their pipeline from the likenesses of actors and models for…
Hey thanks for all the replies, guys! This is my first game model, so I'm probably gonna sound really stupid. Anyway I really appreciate all the feedback. I think what was screwing it up was the spike. It was really hard to resolve them corner pieces. In retrospect, it would have been a lot easier just to keep it on a…
Those expensives education systems sucks ... You either live in the US or UK right? Yep i wouldnt rework that too :p i used to modelize a little japanese train for my company, such as this one: could be really funny to see this baby side by side with those kind of monsters. Another dope ass train that could inspire you…
Yup, in retrospect I should have modeled it in for the experience. However I'm almost done with the texture so I'll skip it this time.I'll start a new hard surface model after I finish texturing this and I'm sure there will be plenty of other challenges. :)
Theme 5 [Derelict Facility] "Retrograde" Super-sized old militaristic like tech. Iterating off of myself off of the mine after someone suggested I look at nuclear chimneys I wanted to do a full on variation of the mine but much higher up towards an exit. A mixture of wide open areas and tighter corridors into different…
I did these two images now, more working on shape and forms then detail. They're a bit big because I tend to work big, probably could have scaled them down in retrospect. Is this the sort of thing everyone meant? Doing this has helped me get a firmer grasp on what/where I am going at the least.
I can see a lot of progress in your skill level via your work here. Love that octopus, great job man! Its cool to see you keep posting and working on stuff here despite all the drama, lol. Being a guy that spends a lot of time on these forums (posting long detailed feedback and stuff) I can totally see why Muzz got annoyed…
Oh man, I had completely forgotten about non-square ratios! Haha in retrospect its such a simple solution but I hadn't at all thought of it! Thanks a lot you guys. I'm not doing this for mobile, so I'll be fine there. I had no idea that mobile only accepted square textures though, so thanks for that bit of info : ) It…
Yeah it was a pretty huge mistake but that's all it was. The best thing we can do is make sure people at Epic see the plight and the threads of the other-submission thread. Thanks man, I don't think it's possible to comment on everyone and give feedback to everyone during the contest while slamming on my own stuff i tried…
Update on my concept along with key reference: I realized in retrospect my idea is very similar to the film/book - Under the skin. The rough plan: Head ideas: My main pose reference : Now onto some actual sculpting.
