I'd say the wood looks ok, its more the metal (?) around it that kills it. Is it metal? It almost has the texture of concrete as well as huge scratch. I'd make the scratches smaller as now, it looks like it was slashed by a giant sword or paws from a dinosaur :poly121: I would re-work a bit the color of it too, would help… -

more complaints about the CGI on page 10 of this thread. personally i thought smaug looked too typically fantasy-illustration-like. i thought the dinosaur-esque ringwraith-steeds from LOTR had a better design. reign of fire dragons were cool, too (the film - not so much ;) ). smaug to me often appeared quite lost in that… -

someone needs to step up and take the crown from these dinosaurs. The only decent feature I can see is that flash will now export iPhone application code. But flash stopped becoming a creators tool - since it took a firm understanding of actionscript just to make a rollover button. CS5 really is invention for inventions… -

Looks like that was added to max9. Seriously what are you doing on max8? 9 is pushing the boundries of dinosaur land. There might be some simple edits you can try on your end to drop or comment out that line. But in order for the icons to refresh you would probably have to restart 3dsmax.
