Hello, I am an indie game developer working on a first-person 3D narrative game (mid-poly, atmospheric/stylized — not photorealistic) built in Unity 6 URP. The game spans five distinct environments ranging from warm domestic interiors to cold institutional facilities to overcast outdoor settings. The same room geometry is…
Today was more refinements and playing with the lights. I got my spline mesh vine meshes working with small white flowers to break up the scene a bit. I littered them around like mad but it looks more like city 17 got all natural than it does vines growing off of a rock structure. So I'll refine those down tomorrow. The…
Great progress. - Cool trick with just emissive. You should also consider some Emissive for the flowers upfront-too dark right now. - A little point light for the lower right part of the pic(under the tree) - Also UDK->View->World Properties->Lightmass->Environment Color to color or brighten up your shadows a bit. Seems…
I think lower is better is the right thing. Polyunwrapper seems to be slower on less objects and low resolutions but is way more faster then 3dsmax standard or version 1.0 at higher resolution with many objects;)
It helps me to squint my eyes, to reduce details and see overall contrast. Examine composition and how values contribute or diminish. Where do you want the eye to look, and how do you guide it there. In the last image, examine how you look at the image, the order of what your eyes want to look at, and why this occurs in…
@zachagreg ; I have no idea how to tell whether it's baked or dynamic, but I doubt it's baked, since it's not always the same flower that gets darkened..... Also, it looks pretty normal in the preview pane in the mesh properties window.... This is the master shader I composed for this type of foliage.... The base textures…
This is just a "nice to have" feature; the ability to set the sampling quality per-map for the baker. I'm using an older/slower GPU so, to cut down on bake times, I use lower sampling for the maps that don't really need it.
I paint at a much higher resolution. Around 2000px width and height. And then crop according to actual image size. And I also shrink the picture a bit and lower the quality so it loads faster on the net or it will take forever to load for those will a slower connection :)
I've got a few ideas for the eye and a few more of ways to make people think of eyes when looking at him. The inside of the flower, the petals and the potential tentacle fins are still awaiting some kind of content for example. So, before I implement one or more of my ideas, I'd like to finish all the elements I've…
