thanks for the comments guys, the Image above has been updated with a couple of tweaks and a sword etc. I'll not add any more muscle mass at this stage, maybe later after the retopo and base texture depending on how it looks at the time. as for looking like a regular guy that's the base I want to start at before texturing… -

Default scanline has no way of emitting light unless you also use radiosity. Even then it's not as easy as you would think. You're better off using Mental Ray in Max2k8 for light emitting materials but since you're using 3dsMax9 you're smart to stick with scanline/radiosity. From what I understand, based on the hours developers work to put these games together, you could probably work at KFC at the same hourly rate that most developers are getting paid.…
