You don't need any kind of fancy machine for 3d, atleast when you are starting out. I think you would get more help at https://www.reddit.com/r/buildmeapc instead of here.
andys probably talking about r&d before the project. Also I was there when he wrote that tutorial - so im not sure what hes talking about when he says this was before pbr.
'If you met a wizard and he offered you 3 wishes, what would they be?' I said I'd wish to be a millionaire so then I would'nt have to answer silly questions politely at job interview. r.
Looks great and I'm very very relieved and happy to see that theres still some people capable of understanding that steampunk is not by definition, only victorian. Really nice work, when do you graduate ? r.
oXYnary: For view switching, hit "V", then you get a nice list of options with hotkeys generally being the first letter (T for Top, B for Bottom, R for Right, L for Left, P for Perspective etc.).
At Ubisoft Montreal they made me fill in a time sheet of a regular work week, and it was 'required' that it be the exact same values even if the entire team was asked to crunch overtime. Basically we were forced to lie. -R
I tried both, there is a hue/saturation shift no matter what you do. There is no way I have found yet to add detail on a layer overtop and maintain tangent space normal map colors. -R
Change the hotkey for Q to "Select Object" that should disable that cycling through of the selection types. Same for Scale, change R to "Select and Scale" Customize > Customize User Interface... > Keyboard Tab
