Very clean and neat! Can't wait to see it textured. Love the mood, perhaps make it more contrasted, not sure. I noticed on this image: https://us.v-cdn.net/5021068/uploads/editor/8s/dgddr7ryi99f.png The corner top left of the 'kinda' arch has a lightmap problem or a bad lighting.
Please vote for implementation of soft blending between booleans on the 3dsmax ideas forum. Every major package is getting this functionality: Maya (HardMesh), Modo (Meshfusion), Lightwave VOTE HERE PLEASE - 3ds Max Ideas Forum: Soft blending between boolean meshes like Modo Meshfusion
It goes both ways. My roomate won a copy of Lightwave at GDC a couple years back in one of the Nvidia art competitions. After he got the copy we went over to the discreet booth and they let him trade it for a copy of 3dsmax, which made him quite happy
You should be able to adjust your quality of your lighting in the build settings. Also in the mesh editor for each model you have the option 'light map resolution' But first of all do you have your models set up properly for lightmaps? (2 uv sets)
can't you create lightmaps in max and export them into the game to be applied on a different material channel ? seems that the engine is limiting you a lot because your work looks good, just lacks some engine-related eyecandy stuff like those you just talked about.
Well I was told I could go with light map or vertex light, so I'm going with lightmap since I already have the scene setup for it. But honestly I dont know why i didnt think of that, Ill just make the entire ground plane semi-transparent, thanks!
I am slowly but surely plugging away at the hard surface environment. Just finished up the bulk of the structural pieces (walls/floor/ceiling), just got some texture and lightmap issues to sort out. Excited to finally get to a stage where I can focus on props and the fine details!
Thats looking like a really good Ao/ lighting pass. I love how there is no lightmaps required. I am going to be starting a personal project in CE3 soon, do you have any pointers you could throw my way regarding lighting, workflow, ect cet? Cheers!
How does the lightmap density view looks? Try setting the static lighting level scale to different values, and bake. If it doesn't work, try the indirect lighting smoothness. If that also doesn't work, you can reset every setting to its default value, with the reset icon next to its parameter.
Funnily enough, it's a little haphazard.. I've found that for instance "Realtime" lights get baked into lightmaps as well and I do seem to remember it occuring the other way around as well. I basically disable/enable Realtime lights per script before I start the long, long, long bakes ;)
