1080p is basically 2k, do you mean 1440p? Also I'd also suggest looking at all IPS monitors with vesa mounts, instead of just ones with pivot, you can easily get your own stand with the features you want.
Also, if you're moving an object by selecting ALL of it's vertices/faces/edes/whatever, then the gizmo stays in place, since the pivot point isn't actually moving. You're just moving the geometry in that case. AKA, get out of sub-object mode. :D

I used my left elbow as a pivot point and eventually it made my hand go numb, so I have stopped doing that now. I now have a servant who holds my elbow for me while I paint:)
Hey Im having some probs animating someone stand up. The centre pivot point(highest point in the heirachy) won't keyframe or animate. It just seems to reset itself to an initial position when I try animateing it. what am I doing wrong and how can I solve this prob? John
this is getting me crazy , everytime I do assign the patch deform binding wsm it always offsets the item . No matters if I resetted Xform or I have edited the working pivot to be right at the start of the side of the array , it always friggin moves it from a side ... why?
I don't use it on a daily basis for animation, however, I have played around with the 701 release. The things I enjoyed about it were the way they handled how the animated pivot system works & passing off constraining objects from one parent to another.
You can do it if you detach the angled piece and adjust the pivot point and then delete the old symmetry and apply a new one. Alternatively, you can click the Symmetry modifier to get into gizmo edit mode and you can move the mirror axis about and rotate it.
@OT: Ya, according to the previous attempt in the softimage edge modeling was possible. You just got to get used to the hot keys (using Local pivot) The problem was, bridging and welding..=\ I guess I'll try it out and post again if I have any problems.
Looking real real nice! Great atmospheric effects as well. You gotta remove all UE4 UI elements out of your screens though!! That silly XYZ axis on the bottom left shouldn't be there. Or the object pivot in the first photo. Gets in the way of the nice screens.
