Re: Black ambient Occlusion map for thick garment
If the UVs are stacked, Substance will overlay the AO results of both, making it appear black. Try unstacking mirrored faces by offsetting them -1 outside the UV 0,1 frame. Note: any lowpoly faces outside the UV frame will not project its highpoly reference to the bake. -

If your anims play wrong make sure you have the $frame values in the .qc include only the relevant frames. -

This is good progress, but I really think there's an opportunity to really flesh out how the lights appear. Like really ask yourself in what other ways could I display three light nodes on this gun? Could it be an ethereal fire? A jet of flame erupting from the gun? Or a foggy one? Does it have to be three LED like strips… -

Here are some almost final shots... due to the 1 million polygons limit, I will decimate the model, make some quick UVs and then project the polypaint into a texture, so Shapeways can print it in color...
