I wouldn't have thought memory was really a concern here, I'd be more interested in what you're actually drawing to screen . It'll depend on how the renderer batches materials and what effect changing parameters has as to what happens at render time. That simple material colour change could mean you're quadrupling the…
Looks about right. Post the normal map. Do you see all those fine ring details in the normal map? I'm assuming no because 512x512 is not enough. Look at your normal map and look at the part where that piece maps to. It will need quite a few pixels to get that much high detail. You posted a pic that is 798 wide, that circle…
imac uses laptop hardware tacked onto a big screen. it will likely run really hot when you are running graphics intensive applications (and not have a particularly fast GPU to begin with). plenty of reports for the current model that it runs with fans at full blast often. other then that, if that's the tpye of machine/OS…
I love the idea, and the HUD is a great way to make you feel in the game. However, two points hit me: a) The HUD atm is rather dull, you have a lot of wasted blank space in the top left/right sides. b) These screens are not widescreen, which means a HUGE percentage of people are either going to see a different effect or…
Well I know its kinda weird to explain but yeah I am much more likely to memorize something if I see it all at a glance (like on your post! perfect!) - as opposed to painfully waiting for a weird visual and laggy representation to appear on screen, then memorize that. Not to mention that it would mean having to explore all…
Rick is right, many Menu interfaces have a load time. Fry Cry had a 3D beach scene fly-by in the background of its menu. That stuff takes time to load. Maybe it would be nice if they put a small load bar at the bottom if the movie/trailer is being used as a catchy load screen. If the bar hits full it will let you skip what…
thanx johnny,i aim pretty good with painting textures on diffuse and will get into it soon but, looking at a lot of peoples work they are adding shaders to their pieces and the effects are great,so i wanted to add that to her if poss. a friend of mine is currently sending a home made video tut of how he uses zbrush to…
Couple images of another sculpture I did. Still working on learning the tools for Mubox, but so far I'm utterly in love with it. I've got to get to more controlled images than this demon, and make a complete figure and map it with the detail next. Screens of the Normal Mesh (UVs are utter crap, I made a Spherical map of…
I would say ditch the white. If people are gonna print off, they're gonna print off. Go with a light grey maybe with a subtle blue/green hue - doesn't waste printer ink if they want to print it, and makes it much easier to see texture details on screen. Chances are they'll have someone looking at your work on screen first…
Rebbacus said she didn't like it, and she suggested separate smoothing groups for the edges of the ribbon and the brim. She also suggested brush strokes, which I wasn't sure how to do with the hat being made out of fabric, so I tried adding noise to the AO layer. She made it very clear that she didn't like the hat the way…
