The tech demo looks amazing!!! I can`t belive we finaly get rid of baking. @Udjani probably we can just create a mid poly model and throw that in painter and use normal maps decals for small details.
You wanna uniquely wrap buildings? Looking at god of war, they had fantastic results with using pretty low res geo, putting tiling textures and then put a damage normal decal on the edges. Looks very good and keeps the res up.
Probably wont even need InDesign at all, unless you want to make a book. Illustrator is useful, you can even export vector to 3d program as a spline, or to make decals for substance painter. IMO, focus only on Ps and Ai.
Looks good. I use cgtextures and mayang quite a bit. The most useful texture for me are grunge maps, splatters and decals. This site doesn't seem to have any. Will have a proper look through when I next need textures.
New update with small props + some other fixes and blocked in airships. texture refinements, rock decals, and finished airships are on the menu for today. After this I need to wrap up and probably move on to a realistic scene (probably sci-fi interior)
I love it! Awesome work! The only beef I have is that the cracks repeat a bit too much. you could probably create some crack decals or work out a blend material and make that kind of damage a bit more random?
What was said, plus you can vertex blend other textures (ideally with much less directional information than the texture in your screen - grime, mud, moss etc. works fine) and/or use decals to hide the most obvious issues.
Yup, you're inspirational :P Questions: How did you go about placing all of the books and paper? Were the books modelled and then Havok physics applied in Max before exporting? And I'm guessing that the paper is mostly made up of decals, no?
Okay so are those floaters, or are they a part of the original mesh? It only makes sense to me that they are floaters; I don't understand how you would be able to map a piece so that you could non destructively place decals like that on assets.
