Looks good, more practice will make it better. btw your grid size is huge, as it says 5km on the bottom right. That means your mech is kilometers large right now. You need to fix your scale issue and work at correct scale.
Maybe there's something I've overlooked for years, I've never seen Maya do that. @izzir This isn't the friendliest display, but Windows>General>Component editor (polygons tab) will show and manipulate coordinates. Are you looking for ways to snap a selection to the grid or another object?
I think I am picking up what you're throwin down. I was asking because I am doing a modular building for first time. We are using Unity and the conversion of pixel units to meters on a square grid confuses me.
Thanks a lot The Rizzler and @BucketOfNuggets :) sorry because i speak EL not well, so I did not fully understand what mean your comment. Slightly less true that segmentshould it need to be increased much further grid, so it would be better.
Indeed. Also, turning on the grid lie MP showed and limiting camera rotation to Y-up can make a huge difference. I do find the move brush to be quite frustrating tho. MoveTopological seems to behave a bit better in some circumstances.
In Zbrush I like to take my hi-poly mesh and actually paint my low-poly mesh onto it like a texture. Then, starting with a zsphere, make a new mesh based on the grid I just laid out onto the hi-poly
As dev of Hair Tool, I know that making hair with split is pain. The way It is solved in blender geo nodes, was to use loose mesh island for parting of hair (no need to paint texture, or vert group). I used this method in Hair Tool - you just cut or split edge, and this creates parting. You can repeat this to get smaller…
In 3dsmax textools script you can set a base real-world measurement to texel res: i.e - 1m2 = 128x128, and then use the tool to set the uvs to each asset. Also, building things to a set grid is very important for efficient assembly/snapping.
Oooh, if anyone's interested, a little while back I made a little script for photoshop that creates an isometric grid and bundled it with some brushes. It might be good for someone just getting started. You can get it here (it's free) https://gum.co/mjpc
Hey welcome to Polycount! I like your design and color scheme. I think it makes a good mid tier skin. I think I might push the concept a bit further. Maybe with some of those glowing grid lines somewhere...
