That uses a H-IPS panel from LG. The lower end e-IPS panels have less power consumption and should generate less heat. Seams not seems. This looks like a sphere pole. Which by default has terrible UVs that come to a point. If you want to texture a sphere, it's better to use a quad sphere. Here's a great example from @Mark Dygert http://polycount.com/discussion/comment/1312335/#Comment_1312335 -

If it's iso, you might take a look at a modular system. That's what we're doing in our game, and it's using Unity. Ours is not an outdoor type game, but you should still be able to modularize your terrain and keep it looking pretty. Depends on how much variation you need, how many modular pieces you need to make.
