Hey Chase, I was meant to comment on this the other day, but didn't get around to it. There's certainly no harm in going back and making amends. As you said, you want to demonstrate your absolute best on your portfolio. I have to agree with whats been said. I think you should focus on readability and functionality before…
Considering that's what I do for a living, yes, I know a bit about web development. Let me be a little clearer: This site is already very fast for myself, and others, world wide. The kind of improvements you are talking about would be minuscule. You may get a few hundred milliseconds out of the load time... 500ms tops. The…
I can't say I totally disagree. those reasons make some sense. But why bother with a folio when it all comes down to the test anyway? On the other hand, I don't think a single asset says much. When people do an art test next to work, the deadline means nothing. One guy can invest 40 hours because he works a half-day job,…
Aren't all art directors just people hired by a particular company because they think along the same lines as the projects that company is producing? At the end of the day, it would seam to me, that these opinions are going to be just as diverse as the projects and individuals you will find at the various studios around…
I don't think you are really that screwed tbh. I definitely think you took the wrong approach, don't get me wrong. But looking at the ref, if you are looking to replicate that as close as you can...most of it consists of unique props and decorations that get slapped on the wall anyways. Consider doing a quick blockout of…
Thanks for the response. Are Cellular, dent, noise, smoke, etc the 3d textures you refer to in 3ds max. I originally thought about and went with the Zbrush method you said and it gave me exactly what I was looking for. I even managed to replicate the exact detail I wanted with Noisemaker over my highpoly mesh. But once I…
Can I ask for some elaboration on some of this feedback? Blurriness: Do you feel all of the images/videos are blurry, or just the videos? I contacted artstation support regarding their video formatting, no matter what resolution video I uploaded it would ALWAYS scale it (In some cases, I could upload the same video twice…
@ant1fact Not sure if you're asking me or kanga but I was using the move hot key. I should have mentioned that in my first post. After a move operation starts with a hotkey there's a fixed offset between the mouse cursor location and the object origin. This could lead to a situation where the user has their mouse cursor…
So you're trying to match a camera to a image? Camera Match in max is your best option but it only works on uncropped images and will never work with hand drawn concept art. You can look it up in the help file and it has some detailed info along with how to use it. I'm sure google has more info on it too.…
@rexo12 : I have to admit I'm not very familiar with Substance, I know it can be used for photogrammetry, I have seen quite a few articles about it. I'd rather link to these than have to change my whole workflow which already works just in order to use Substance. Again, I'm not saying Substance would be better or worse…
