I'm not sure why you say max ui is so weird... max 9 was really sweet... max 2010 and forward are crap. just a lot of crap got done to the program that made it worse. If you learned on modo though you are going to have a hard time going to max...
A Work In Progress if there's ever been one. Ignore the ill chosen colors and ill balanced tones, the ketchup colored wine, and the 'water'. 9 more days.... Any information on Necris architecture outside the simple Google image searches I've been conducting would be very, very much appreciated!
quick update on project. in maya with a simple directional light, shouldnt be the final quality as the textures are just diffuse at the moment so i could get a rough idea of what things would look like together etc all low poly, so far around 9 k altogether :)
It´s what I did. I don´t know, Ive im- and exported all kinds of meshes and from Max 9 to 2010 and Zbrush and NEVER had this problem. I don´t use 2013. The mesh is for a friend who uses 2013 and he gets that problem with a smooth.
Let's get PCrs together tonight for eats or drinks. Meet at 7pm in the Westin lobby, I'll be wearing an orange long sleeve shirt. Or text me. I'm up for whatever. I'll be heading to the Wildstar party at 9 or so, if anyone wants to crash it (got 1 ticket from a friend).
http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Category:Topology http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/BodyTopology This is decent but it's using tube-arm method which isn't really ideal: http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/034/0/9/male_body_topology_by_iceblazer17-d38qkxj.jpg Basically you'll just want loops around muscle groups.
I might not quite understand what you're talking about but maybe you are looking for Region Render? Press 9, Common Tab, under frames is "Area to render" switch it to Region, it will pop a box on your viewport. You can use the same tools in the render preview window too.
Ghost already said how to disable triangle rendering through the customize window above. If you're using max 2010 and are still having the problem make sure your driver in the Configure Driver section is set to Direct X 9 and not 10 as it forces it to render all tri's on some machines.
The first link was discuses in your absence. The second is a nice addition to that conversation since no one really said where it came from. I suspected it was facegen since it has SOME of the same face copying features. Either way it looks like that is about 9 years old if Daz is correct.
How will DX10 change our jobs? I suppose this say it all... DirectX 10: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/9019.html DirectX 9 vs. DirectX 10: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/19966.html What interest us?: http://media.pc.ign.com/media/694/694190/img_3493897.html
