EXR is simple for it's intended use case but for games it's more complicated than necessary. It's designed for rendered export into a compositor. It's closer to a PSD than it is a PNG/TGA, and because of that I'm dubious about claims that it's smaller. Also, file size isn't everything, EXR's decode slower than PNG/TGA… -

Like Tiles said, triangles is not the main concern when it comes to performance. For an open world, the landscape usually takes up a huge chunk of performance and memory due to it covering so much of the screen while usually being fairly heavy on the shader side (lots of texture blending) . If you are aiming to join a indie studio then its ok to be an jack of all trades but if you want to work on bigger projects then you need to specialize. Overall I would say your portfolio is pretty weak, the props and weapons are very basic models and the textures leave a lot to be desired. Rocky scene landscape is imo… -
