True, ZB uses 4GB of RAM and the remaining 4GB are used for temporary memory storage, so it's all good, just not as good as it could be, especially if you want to Polypaint at double ratio to downscale and fix up in PS. dxt1 (RGB) compresses 6:1 dxt3 (RGBA) 4:1 (sharp alpha) dxt5 (RGBA) 4:1, (smooth alpha) 3dc (RG) 2:1 (for 8 bit data) 4:1 (for 16 bit ), compresses 32 bit better (2x16bit), ie higher quality normals there is no mainstream single channel compression. storage on disk is typically the same as in memory + a few bytes… -

Wait, whats going on here? You can compress OS maps the same as a lot of games compress tangent, with DX5 compression. You cant do 3dc or whatever NM specific compression, because it uses the full 3 channels, but none of those formats are "faster", they're actually slower, because you have to re-calculate that 3rd channel… -

Just press on GOZ in ZB and it will ask you to install to which program. You'll get a bunch of options, and once Maya pops (which it should detect automatically) just confirm which version you want it to work it (32 or 64 bit).
