If it's a game object, I'd consider just making it simple box with alpha textures to represent the wire meshing, if you haven't already done so. (Probably use this mesh to bake the mesh texture, though)
I spent the last new days making this, it will be a game object, currently its about 5000k polys, so obviously I will also have to make lower lod versions too. comments welcome.
It has a world space scale now, instead of screen space as before, which is great! Still can't do straight lines on the surface of an object though, so there's still a need for my tape tool :)
Could anyone take a look at this blender file and tell me why the cross-section of this curve seems to be just a little bit smaller than the bevel object? Radius for the curve points is set to 1.
Is there any way to manipulate (move) a meshes origin point? (The small orange circle). I prefer moving that to moving the whole mesh in edit mode, then moving the whole object back to its original position.
@melviso the outliner should always sync with the 3D view as of 2.80 I think. As for finding an object in the outliner, just select it in the 3D view and press the numpad period key while the mouse is over the outliner.
@guitarguy00 In 2.8 the constraint drop down is top center, mine says face.Click the drop down then click the little plus sign to the right to set a constraint to whatever sub-object you have selected.
ok this add-on is a life saver, I think is the best layer manager out there. cheers. http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?384600-Addon-Objects-Library-Manager https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRMNXbb8tjs
Ah, well if you duplicate an image node it still references the same image datablock, you need to click the little number first before editing the path - this will create a new image datablock. Its pretty much the same concept as with instanced objects.
regarding wire overlay on selected objects 3dsmax style again: i discovered that the bforartists project includes this functionality as well. works in my (apparently?) busted config. if you'd like to try it, grab the wire tools addon from…
