Here's the first figure I've sculpted from a live model. I'm not unfamiliar with sculpture mind you, as it's my Major, but this is the first time I've done it from a live human. Nevermind the hand in the first pic, I barely touched it. It stands about 26" high and is made of water based clay.
Very Nice Daz! little update another little update Now on to the hands and forarms. Still trying to figure out this things anatomy is a pain in the ass. Nothing on earth has a structure like this thing. If any of you guys have any ideas how it might work let me know.
Thanks Bobo and Neox. I made the hands smaller with a bit more length to the fingers, probably still gonna tweak them a lot more though, I agree they fight with the rest of the design. Here's an updated full body shot with a super quick polypaint. Lower half is still in rough stages.
Johny that is looking awesome. Great likeness Cant wait to see the textures' Got some freetime so i started a new model too. Some WW2 style thing - a SS officer. 2200 tris and 512*512 texture map. Hand painted WIP textures. Still a lot to do.
[ QUOTE ] Er - WHY did you hand paint the entire thing? It looks like you're trying for something realistic, yet it looks cartoony. If its meant to be of a cartoon look it doesn't look the part at all. It's in a weird middle ground that isn't very happy How long did this take you? If you're going for something more…
thanks for the crits. like i mentioned, the folds will be coming. i agree about the pants needing some slack at the bottom. hands will be going into zbrush for some beefing up. i kinda want to keep a top heavy feel to him though, so don't think i'll be massifying the legs too much.
that rocks hard boskma. The robotic eye looks like it should come out though, rather than be inset into the skull. Im also not quite sure what purpose the whole in his hips serve... On a side note, might I suggest robotic limbs. A robotic hand or legs or something and a pirate hat.
[ QUOTE ] I've finished this guy and currently work on the next for our thousand sons dawn of war mod... http://www.joust3d.com/MitGas/almost.jpg http://www.joust3d.com/MitGas/face2.jpg [/ QUOTE ] Oh nice... W40k is awsome. First real try at hands... organics have never really been my thing :\
Renaud Galand - looks cool. I dont' feel his feet - it does not work for me. And maybe You could try to give him a little bit some monkey position of his body. Otherwise it is too human and then the hands are too long for Your position ... I think so NICE SCULPT
mvelasquez - cool design, pretty nice belt and hand details. Here is my crap, I get back to messing around it after long brake. Unfortunately I have time for it only in weekends ;/ Its around 24ktri atm, few more tris will come, few more later I'll reduce.
