wow, that blog is awesome :) as for the the last b&w chick, i think her head and neck are a bit too small and thin considering the thickness of legs and arms.
Another way I've heard of systems interpreting mirroring is for the exporter to look at the UV face winding... so then inverted faces (facing -W) are interpreted as being mirrored.
What I mean is, nothing works. QWE for move/scale/rotate. Alt+W to Max Viewport. No Custom Hotkeys. And the override Toggle button has no effect on this.
Like the b/w painting with the robots, kind of reminds me of some of Mangnus Fallgren's illustrations for Mutant - one of Sweden's most famous RPGs. Keep it up :)
