but with a texture layered over a hill mesh , it would look flat or like if the coins are glewed on it rather than vertically placed . -

alternatively, tile on the axis you'll be wanting them to match on. Splitting vertically a horizontally tiling piece is not helping. Good luck! -

Looks awesome, the only thing that feels lacking though, it verticality of the upper part of the left side, it's very clear in the reference.
