speedtree is pretty much the only thing that actually works which is why they haven't bothered updating it in a decade (v8 doesn't count, it's just 7 in a slightly newer dress) -

7 Gigs of ram, i've been importing meshes from zbrush for renders so about 15 million faces, and yes they will all be baked down to a low poly. -
