how to model the middle joint of Y shape ?i just model two polygons but no idea to the joint ,need to use which technique in maya to joint smoothly ? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/138/63906018.jpg/
Yeah I agree, it's not as reflect-y and stainless steel as it should be. The milled receiver part has some matte finish on most manufacturer models I had referenced, and i definitely wanted to contrast that against the stainless steel look of the barrel.
Yeah, probably two is enough for most things, X and Y. I think anims would be difficult. The author does mention how is takes about twice as long to create color + lighting profiles, as it does just to make regular sprites.
all your normal maps are incorrect... invert the normal map's green channel... your shit will look better, i promise unless they changed the way they do their tangent space normal maps the green channel is always -y. they = UDK BTW
I don't think you can, even though it kinda tells you you selected two axes for snapping, everything still snap on all three, I think we just have to live with snapping first on X then on Y. :(
find some basic uv videos for sure. Cylinder project the outside of the Cylinder, project the faces facing upwards in the Y. Should be mostly good. Still check for distortion, but if it's minimal and you're painting in something like 3DCoat, then you should be fine.
You can align them at the same time on X and then on Y, making it pretty close. You can do it either with Textools (older script, might work), or with polyunwrapper (paid). Not sure how you do it without any external plugins.
your map should display mostly correct if you flip your green channel. some shaders require the Y (green channel) to be oriented differently. for the bolts not baking right see this thread: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81154
Hi Zzam_W I think you could try: delete ik in rotation local mod to set 0 to x and y axis of the forearm bone ? recreate ik. With IK, the children should have two identical axis to his parent ?
Yeah I already do use the perspective view and vertical Y. It helps, but it still feels very strange to me. Thanks for the tip regarding Shift btw! Helps alot! I guess I'll keep practicing though! Thanks guys!
