Yea a lot of people have been on them to change the UV Editor to a mode you enter at any time (just like Maya) instead of a goofy modifier you have to juggle. If the lic on the laptop is a retail version you can upgrade. They have a "can I upgrade windows on this PC" tool you download which will tell you if its a version that can be upgraded, even checks the hardware. If its OEM on the laptop, it probably can not be upgraded. But MS does make some exceptions for hardware bought…
Just a quick update, been working on this every now and then, just baked the wheels down and optimizing it so i can start texturing, this is just a quick texture i put on it. I would recommend GTX 1060 6GB simply because of better drivers. How ever the RX 480 has better hardware, 2304 stream processors vs 1280 cuda cores and 192 bit vs 256 bit.

To add on what already have been said, you may not want in current production workflow to jump straight and bevel 2300 edges. Also there's your machine to take in consideration when it comes to heavy process like that. PS: Softimage is great.
