Hi Dasha, I hope you had a good weekend. Yes there is nothing wrong about experimenting. In fact, taking older projects and testing out new ways to light, render and animate them is great research and dev. That's usually what I do. Sometimes trying to isolate one aspect of study is the best way to evaluate it, especially…
I made a quick test, just random landscape I'm still working on the concept, filling with the content and details. For now, I will be working on the village, pastures and autumn forrest part.
Didnt foresee it going quite this direction but I was looking for something that was very gothic/Dark Souls esque. So far im pleased with it, and like what its doing for the lighting.
I've never had to work on a project that used scans or mocap and I don't foresee it as something I'll ever have to deal with. There's plenty of room in this industry for all types of pipelines.
I dont have any information on the subjects you mention but I think large scale modeling like cities and forrests are another career path, 3d matte painter
Joined just to participate in these, LETS LEARN! Anybody foresee any issue with me using Unity? I'm on a mac here and I'm pretty sure UDK isn't available on mac yet.
I'm only gonna bother getting one if I win one with my Gears of Time level at an upcoming lan party... and even then I don't foresee myself using it much...
