Hm, SSX3 gave me a "select challenge" screen on the GC, the transferring wasn't strictly needed to go somewhere (well, there was an intro sequence showing a transfer after selecting something but that could be skipped). Do they activate when you select an object, apply edit poly and enter a sub-object mode (vert, poly, edge ect...)? If I remember correctly the buttons are dynamic and if you don't have anything selected or what you have selected isn't a valid edit poly object, something like a box primitive. -

Yeah, good idea, I hate the maya selection system which is very random. I will try to improve that. Unfortunately, the soft selection/average vertice tools doesn't work with the live selection. I have no idea for the moment on how to implement that, but it's planned. It will need a little bit of work I think to achieve… -

I use a lot of masks and tend to put passes into layer groups. Have seen texture PSDs with tons of selection masks as named channels, which is kind of nice, and is something I've been meaning to pick up.
